Building Efficiency Solutions, a partnership of Blue Hills Community Services and Elevate Energy, encourages all multifamily property owners to benchmark their buildings as an important step towards understanding and improving portfolio performance. This course, offered in partnership with USGBC Central Plains and Kansas City Energy Project, is focused on training participants how to set up and maintain a property’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager account.  Join us as we introduce and demonstrate the core functionality of EPA’s free ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager tool.

This LIVE demo training is led by multifamily energy efficiency experts for owners and managers of multifamily buildings. Each participant will learn how to:

    • Create an account for a multifamily property
    • Enter energy and water bills
    • View results and progress, in order to save energy and money
    • Tackle common multifamily benchmarking challenges

The training will include time and assistance to begin building set-up on the spot, so you are encouraged to bring with you:

    • At least one utility bill for the property you’d like to benchmark
    • The multifamily property’s gross floor area (square feet)
    • A laptop computer to create your own account during the live demo

These materials, while helpful, are NOT required for participation.

USGBC Central Plains Board of Directors is pleased to share that our Chapter has signed a letter of intent to move towards an integrated model with USGBC National , beginning December 1, 2015. The Central Plains Chapter will eventually dissolve our local 501(c)3 status and join USGBC National, but will maintain our chapter name, staffing, and programming. This new model will provide an opportunity for our chapter to improve operations and focus on the mission-work that really matters. It will also enhance the chapter-network alignment nationwide, as well as create greater consistency and clarity in each individual marketplace. To date 30 USGBC Chapters have made the decision to integrate.

    Alabama
    Arizona
    Arkansas
    Central Pennsylvania
    Georgia
    Greater Virginia
    Hampton Roads
    Idaho

    South Carolina
    U.S. Caribbean
    West Virginia
    Wisconsin
    Wyoming

In the coming months, we will work with USGBC National to develop more fully integrated business development plans, advocacy campaigns and programming. By integrating our efforts we will strengthen our community and increase our impact.

“This is the first step in more fully integrating our network of passionate and committed local and regional entities into our national organization so we can better support the work they do on the ground every day to advance green building.” - Rick Fedrizzi, USGBC CEO and founding chairman.

    Chapter Transition Q&As:

    Q. I have an existing Central Plains Chapter member. Will my member benefits be honored for the duration of the membership period?

    A. Yes, your member benefits, like access to local events and networking, will remain the same for the duration of your chapter membership. With the transition to greater alignment with National, individual members of integrated Chapters may be able to enjoy additional national level benefits in the future; however those details are still being worked out.

    Q. I am existing annual partner or sponsor of the Central Plains Chapter. Will my dollars still support local initiatives?

    A. Annual partner/sponsor dollars will still support programming for the Central Plains Chapter, including education programs, networking events, advocacy campaigns, and community engagement efforts.

    Q. I am existing annual partner/sponsor of the Central Plains Chapter. Will my annual partner benefits be honored for the duration of my partnership period?

    A. Yes, any commitments made as part of your annual partnership/sponsorship agreement with the Central Plains Chapter will be maintained.

    Q. As a committee volunteer, will my role change?

    A. The Central Plains board and staff will continue to direct local market activity, and programming will continue as is.
